My pleasure!
Hello Rick!
I just saw Forgetting dad.. I cried.. I have..or haven’t any relationshop with my dad ant longer.. he dosent want to. And in the film you said someting that hit me rigth to the heart, it made me understand that its not my fault that our relationship is the way its is..
Im really hope that you have found some peace and that everything is going ok.
Hi Hanna,
Hi Hanna,
Glad to hear the film moved you. It has a way of making people cry and reminding them of their own relationships to their parents. Sorry to hear your dad no longer wants to have a relationship with you. My father completely broke off our relationship three years ago as a result of my making FORGETTING DAD. He accused me of spreading rumors about him and turning the family against him. It was all very bizarre and incredibly painful. I’ve spent plenty of time feeling like I’ve done something wrong. But all the positive reactions and encouraging words I’ve been getting about the film have helped me realize that I really needed to make it, and that the film has the power to help other people in one way or another, which is a good thing. I still haven’t given up the hope that my father will talk to me again someday, and maybe even tell me what’s really going on with him. My sister tells me he’s in pretty poor health, so I hope that time comes sooner than later. It would be terrible if he took his ‘secret’ to the grave with him.
Thanks again for writing. And don’t give up on your father. If you recorded the film by any chance, maybe you could send him a copy. Or you can order the original English version on DVD (NTSC US version only, but it works on most European DVD players and on computers): http://Kunaki.com/MSales.asp?PublisherId=121585
Best wishes,
Rick
